On the De-sophistication of the American Citizenry
Spring 2002

At this moment in history, we are presented with a great opportunity to identify and eliminate the forces that threaten the American way of life. However, We The People are again asleep, mired in vanity and superficiality and allowing more decay of the constitutional republic for which we stand. It was my hope that the Great Tragedy of September the 11th would send strong signals to my fellow Americans that we must examine where we are failing in our civic responsibilities. What has proved to be an even greater tragedy is the apparent failure of my fellow Americans to seize this crucial opportunity to reform the irresponsibility that currently dominates the behavior of the American Citizenry.

We are no longer balancing our personal lives with the education and sophistication necessary to correctly execute our position as voters, the source of all power in our country. We The People, who once came together in educated, dedicated communities to direct the force and future of our Republic, are now largely apathetic or lack the civil expertise on significant social issues to cast our votes in an enlightened fashion. The result of such deficiency on account of the People is a system run amok, crippled in its capacity to serve the common good.

The truth is clear. It does not change because we wish it to do so for fear of it changing our worldview. We know what we are and where we personally lack integrity.

We The People recognize the meltdown of Enron is an indication of common corporate corrupt behavior and that executives would readily put the wealth and security of their families, the college educations of their children and their expensive desires above the 401(k) plans of thousands of dispensable employees, especially when facing company financial failure.

We recognize that our nation's attack on the tobacco industry, gun manufacturers and now fast food restaurants are entirely due to a national epidemic of laziness and poor personal accountability and that the responsibility actually lies with those of us that refuse to incorporate the Golden Rule and healthy habits into our daily lives.

We recognize that We The People can be vigilantly critical of the actions taken by our leaders and demand real accountability and yet still love our country with all our hearts and that including the militia, independent media and defenders of the constitution in government domestic terrorist lists threatens the freedom of thought, speech and of the press essential for a free society.

We recognize that upon educated inspection, our financial systems are foundationally flawed, unfair and reduce the self-sufficiency of the American mass public; that fractional banking, suppression of the price of gold, income taxes on wages and salaries and debt-based currency are visible indications of our national financial insolvency and corruption.

What we do not recognize is that our Great Nation's people are failing in their responsibilities as Sovereign Citizens of a Constitutional Republic. We flail ineffectually with bills and laws in hopes of resolution, but no matter how hard we try, we cannot replace with law what we have lost in personal and collective integrity and character.

If we do not take time out of our daily lives to educate ourselves on the complex issues that face our elected representatives and voice our directions, if we cast our votes based solely on the opinions of corporate and government-controlled mainstream media, The People will fail to affect the future of our Republic.

We The People of these United States possess a form of government capable of ensuring freedom, liberty and the ownership of property for all, but it depends entirely on the strength and bravery of ourselves. We must look to ourselves, not our temporary business or political leaders, as the cure for the current sickness of the American Character.

Now is the time for the American mass public to advance their sophistication in order to ensure enlightened leadership for the future of our Great Republic, to redefine the relationship between the citizens and their government and to repair The People's personal integrity and accountability. When the American people have restored their character and sense of civic responsibility, the machinery of the government will once again serve the common good and our blessed United States of America will be stronger than it has ever been.

We, who no longer feel significant in the direction of American affairs, must realize our power as American Citizens. It is the history of governments to become tyrannical, where the few control the many, but as long as the United States is protected by the everlasting wisdom of our Constitution, the many have the opportunity to rule themselves.

The American public has forgotten the cost of true freedom and thusly the rewards. A society unwilling to accept the risks inherent in liberty and freedom deserves neither. If we fearfully trade our freedom for security, we will find ourselves wholly secure, but powerless, suffocated by a web of law and government.

The privilege of self-rule comes at a cost. We must be willing to accept that the same rights that allow us to be truly free may be used to destructive ends. We must return to the authentic and resilient American Character that punishes those that abuse their rights to hurt others while preserving liberty and freedom for all.

There can be no more American a response to a threat on our way of life than that.
